NCUIRE awards for undergraduate research
To foster high-quality, high-impact collaborative research experiences, financial awards are available to students who have declared a New College major. ASU students without New College majors cannot receive financial stipends but they are eligible for academic credits instead. NCUIRE makes four types of awards available:

NCUIRE research assistantships allow students to participate in research early in their college careers. They are intended for students with little to no research experience.

NCUIRE team awards allow teams of two or more (typically not more than six) students to collaborate with one another under the guidance of a single faculty mentor on a single creative/research project. No prior experience with research or creative endeavor is required (though team awards provide opportunities for students with varying levels of experience to collaborate).

NCUIRE scholarships support students who are beginning to understand and appreciate the nature of research, inquiry and creative activity (typically sophomores, juniors or seniors). NCUIRE Scholars may have had some research experience, but it is not necessary.

NCUIRE fellowships support prior NCUIRE Scholars as they continue to advance their research (typically juniors and seniors). Prospective NCUIRE Fellows need not necessarily work with the same faculty mentor with whom they worked as NCUIRE Scholars.
