Schedule an Appointment

In collaboration with Barrett, the Honors College: West campus, CommLabASU is open to students who are enrolled in one of the following classes in ASU’s New College

  • COM 100: Introduction to Human Communication
  • COM 207 Introduction to Human Inquiry
  • COM 225: Public Speaking
  • COM 230: Small Group Communication
  • COM 259: Communication in Business and the Professions
  • COM 325: Advanced Public Speaking
  • COM 342: Oral History and Story Telling

Keep in mind that many public speaking and communication classes are also utilizing the lab; therefore, it is very important that you schedule your appointment early for best availability. In other words don't wait until the last minuteIf you cannot make your appointment, for whatever reason, please cancel in advance so your time slot is available for someone else. If you are more than 10 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, your appointment is subject to cancellation. CommLabASU check-in is located on the third floor of the Sands building, ROOM 334. To cancel your appointment please call (602) 543-5766.

What to expect at your appointment:

When you visit our lab, you will be greeted by one of our graduate student directors who will pair you with an undergraduate mentor. From there, depending upon your assignment, you and your mentor will map out a speech strategy, practice and film your presentation, and review the results. Our sessions are designed to put you at ease and prepare you for success.

Please be prepared by bringing any required material to your appointment:

  • Student ID
  • Assignment Rubric
  • Speech Outline
  • Props or PowerPoint (if you plan to use during speech)
  • Flash Drive
  • Positive Attitude
  • Creativity
