At the center of CommLabASU lives a mission for three objectives: expanding communication education in an equitable, wide-reaching manner, building a community that encourages success, and meeting each individual we serve at their respective places of knowledge to propel them forward in their pursuits.

CommLabASU accomplishes this through investing in Arizona State University’s students and partnering with a variety of internal and external partners to cultivate a safe space to learn and grow as both professionals and people. In this way, we bring to life Arizona State University’s charter by engaging with our community and bringing experiential education to everyone we reach. The culmination of learning that goes on within CommLabASU’s space melds together each individual’s unique experiences with the teachings of communication to create a one of a kind educational opportunity that enhances skills, builds confidence, and ignites voices.

From public speaking to presentation skills to leadership development and virtually every communication topic in between, CommLabASU provides a model of personalized learning, focus, and care for each individual we host. Grounded in the traditional rhetoric of communication studies and the teachings of positive communication, we strive to make experiences for both students and professionals about learning without judgment and fear of failure. This is essential to ensure that learners experience success grounded in scholarly research, realized in an approachable space. The results are thousands of learners leaving our space equipped with the knowledge to succeed and the confidence to do so.

The world we live and work in constantly changes with advents of new technology and modes of operations; however, one constant need in this world of our is the human element. Our Mission:

At the heart of CommLabASU, we cultivate the voices of 21st century citizens. We help each learner discover their unique communication style and develop the confidence to reach their full potential in an ever-changing world. We encourage our diverse community of learners to transform and expand their traditional understanding of communication, workforce preparation, and public speaking through engaged service and experiential learning. We do so through dynamic applications gleaned from theory and research in communication studies. Our welcoming, friendly, and professional environment reflects our commitment to the assessment and improvement of durable skills and authentic community engagement.

Our professional model of mentoring and delivering authenticity at scale fosters relationship-rich support of our CommLabASU community. We are committed to developing instruction and research that is responsive to contemporary audiences, technology, and work environments while honoring the interdisciplinary lessons of rhetoric, civil discourse, and positive communication.
