Communication Assessment and Learning Lab (CALL)
The ASU Communication Assessment and Learning Lab (C.A.L.L.) provides a creative space, for a diverse student population, to develop and improve their oral communication and presentation skills. Our mentors offer genuine feedback and guidance in a risk-free, respectful, professional environment.
For students who aspire to become better public speakers, the ASU Communication Assessment and Learning Lab (CALL) provides a safe, creative space to help you develop and improve your oral communication and presentation skills with the latest technology to support you.
CALL is open to students who are enrolled in one of the following classes:
- COM 100: Introduction to Human Communication
- COM 207 Introduction to Human Inquiry
- COM 225: Public Speaking
- COM 230: Small Group Communication
- COM 259: Communication in Business and the Professions
- COM 342: Oral History and Story Telling
Whether you lack confidence in your speech or are nervous about speaking in public, let the CALL mentors help you. Our mentors have been in your position before, and are here to offer constructive and credible feedback and guidance in a risk-free, respectful and professional environment.
At CALL, you can give your speech or presentation to an audience (even if it's just one person), which offers a different experience than rehearsing on your own. And, in addition to a mentor's guidance, you'll be recorded so that you can view the video afterward and assess your strengths and areas of improvement for yourself.
The welcoming setting and useful feedback make CALL a great place for New College students to improve their public speaking skills, so come check us out! You can schedule an appointment, and can often accommodate walk-ins as well.
And if you have questions regarding why your class is not listed, please contact CALL Director Bonnie Wentzel at email@example.com.
