Student Requirements
Practical career experiences set students up for post graduate success. By participating in a New College internship, students will gain credit hours toward their degree while preparing for their professional career.
- Internship credit is based on the total number of hours submitted in your approved Handshake Experience. Please make sure your registered internship hourly commitment aligns with the number of credits for which you have registered. Some courses have minimum, maximum, or specific set of credit hour requirements. Please speak with your Internship Manager or Academic Success Advisor if you have questions.
- You can receive 1 academic credit hour for every 45 hours worked within your internship. 3 academic credit hours is equivalent to 135 worked hours. (Note: The Arizona Legislative Internship is 12 credit hours and the Washington Center internship is 15 credit hours)
- International students must maintain f-1 visa status for one calendar year prior to beginning an internship.
- Some programs have prerequisites, please meet with your Academic Success Advisor to ensure you are qualified for an internship and understand your program's requirements.
- Academic credit is not acquired until the completion of the corresponding New College 484 course and coursework is completed.
All students are governed by Rules and Regulations of Arizona State University:
