April 19, 2024 | Devil's Oasis (2nd floor, CAVC), ASU Tempe campus

8:45 am – 4:30 pm

During our annual conference, we learn what our ASU community of scholars has been working on for the past year in the area of resilience. This daylong conference includes: a poster session in the morning; a data blitz session; a keynote address by Dr. Francisco Sanchez on resilience and sexual minorities; and, a symposium that focuses broadly on the topic of resilience and relationships. We will be concluding the day with a symposium on the papers that have been published to date on our 2-wave nationally representative study of adults during the acute COVID pandemic phase. The conference will be held in the Devil’s Oasis on Tempe campus on Friday, April 19th from 8:45 am – 4:30 pm.

IARR Mini-Conference 2023:  Resilience in Interpersonal and Social Environments

May 18-21, 2023 | Phoenix, Arizona

The theme of this mini-conference was how individuals thrive and grow in stressful contexts through their relationships. This conference included a poster session during the Friday happy hour, one data blitz session, and symposiums that focused broadly on the topic of resilience and relationships. Additionally, we facilitated sessions for collaborative working groups to brainstorm ideas for interdisciplinary studies and/or grant proposals. We hosted a new scholars workshop during the first day open to all graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We also had three terrific keynote speakers - Early Career Award winner (Amie Gordon), a local, mixed race Indigenous scholar and activist who shared about their lived experiences with resilience (Alycia de Mesa), and a speaker who focused on stress and coping in young adult and older couples (Silvia Donato). Finally, we made the most of our beautiful surrounds for our opening event at Mirabella in Tempe and closing dinner at the Desert Botanical Garden, with optional day tours in Sedona.
