CommLabASU Services for Students
What we do:
CommLabASU’s process for students involves pairing our mentees (that’s you) with our nationally certified mentors. These mentors work with you on brainstorming or delivery to ensure that your speech, project, presentation, or task you are working on is refined, polished, and ready for your success. Our method includes providing a safe, welcoming space for all to feel comfortable in. After all, public speaking can be difficult enough as one of the most commonly named fears, but this doesn’t have to prevent you from achieving greatness. CommLabASU mentors have been in your shoes and know how to best calm those nerves and build that success, even for those just starting their communication journey. Working with a mentor will look a bit different for each person and each assignment; however, you can always expect a professional and consistent experience. Each appointment will be one-on-one with a mentor, and you will receive feedback based on how well you did and areas that may need improvement.

Appointments
Appointments can be made through our scheduler, found here. Please keep in mind that you must create an account in order to schedule an appointment. Once you have done so, follow the following instructions:
- At the top of your screen, click on “Reservations” then “Schedule”. (Mobile users will need to click on the 3 horizontal lines on the left side of their screen to see these options). This will bring up our entire schedule for the week. (Mobile users should switch from “Mobile View” to “Standard View” to see all availability).
- Locate an available 30-minute time slot. These are any of the white squares. If you are coming in as a group, please keep in mind that you need to schedule for an hour.
- Click on the white square that works for you, fill out the requested information, and click “Create”. Once this is finished, you have booked your appointment.
Keep in mind that many public speaking and communication classes utilize the lab; therefore, it is very important that you schedule your appointment early for best availability. In other words don't wait until the last minute. If you cannot make your appointment, for whatever reason, please cancel well in advance so your time slot is available for someone else. If you are more than 10 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, your appointment is subject to cancellation. CommLabASU check-in is located on the third floor of the SANDS building, room 322. To cancel your appointment please edit your booking on our website or call (602) 543-5766.
