About the Class

Did you know that Canyon Voices is a class at ASU? The class named ENG433: Literary Magazine Publishing is responsible for producing the magazine each semester.

Being a student editor at a college literary magazine is a rewarding and exciting experience. Imagine reviewing submissions by authors and artists from across the country and even outside the country.

Editors work collaboratively:

  copy editing pages

  designing the magazine

  creating social media campaigns

develop design skills using Canva and Adobe Express

This role offers opportunities to build leadership skills, gain important editing, design and publishing skills, and create to a vibrant literary community.

At the end of the semester, students hold a magazine release party – a festive celebration of the words and art in the magazine which culminates in an open mic session.

The class is open to anyone who loves literature and has wondered about what it’s like to work in the publishing industry. There are not prerequisites. Just a love of words, art and creativity.
