Cannabis Analytics, Safety and Health Initiative

Science and innovation for safer uses of cannabis, hemp and cannabinoids.

What we do

The ASU Cannabis Analytics, Safety and Health Initiative is a multidisciplinary effort dedicated to advancing research, education, and workforce training for safer uses of cannabis, hemp, and cannabinoids.

Through collaboration among scientists, health professionals, policy experts, and community partners, the initiative explores the intersection of cannabis use, safety testing, public health, and regulatory science.

Our goal is to provide scientific leadership to transform the global cannabis bioenterprise from unregulated uses to a safe, sustainable consumer market.

Education and workforce training

Through research, seminars and hands-on training in cannabis analysis, we develop the careers of industry professionals in addition to talented undergraduate and graduate students at ASU.

Current professional development offerings include the ASU Seminars for Cannabis Analytics, Safety and Health, a seminar series exploring the evolving landscape of cannabis analytics, product safety and public health. We invite expert speakers in science, policy, healthcare and industry to discuss the latest research, regulatory developments and innovations in cannabis.

Additionally, we host annual analytical and business workshops in May every year. These seminars feature:

  Regulatory scientists and industry experts

Hands-on laboratory training for cannabis testing

  Business workshops

  Networking happy hours.

Together, the curriculum introduces students and professionals to the science and business of the cannabis analytical industry.
