Graduate Student Financial Support

Financial support for graduate students is limited; however, there are several resources that may be available to qualified students:

The following types for financial support may be available to students in each New College program:

  • Dean's Scholarship: Each year five scholarships of up to $10,000 may be available to first-year graduate students in each New College graduate program. Applicants are automatically considered for this scholarship and do not need to apply for it. Students who receive the scholarships are notified before the beginning of their first semester.
  • Traditional Financial Aid (Loans & Grants): For information on general financial aid products, please visit ASU's Financial Aid office
  • CA (Course Assistant) Positions: There are a limited number of Course Assistant (CA) positions with variable stipends.  Postings for these positions are distributed to New College graduate students via email when these positions become available.
  • First Year Experience Internships: The New College First Year Experience Team has opportunities to provide students with small stipends in exchange in supporting first year student initiatives in undergraduate education.

Several unique funding sources are available for students in specific New College graduate programs.  Please visit your program page under the Advising section of this website for more information.  These program specific opportunities include:

  • Merit Scholarship: When available, New College Graduate Students are automatically considered for a small number of merit scholarships.
  • Research Funding:  Occasionally, Research Aid positions become available to students interested in specific topics.  Please visit your Program Advising Page for more information.

Ed and Judy Lynn Scholarship

Each academic year the Ed and Judy Lynn Scholarship provides financial assistance to newly admitted graduate students enrolled in the Masters of Arts in Communication Studies (MACS) program.  Students receiving a Lynn Scholarship are engaged academic leaders and embrace the values of Ed Lynn, which include a lifelong ethic of hard work, leadership, personal accountability, and a commitment to helping others develop their potential.  They are expected to work closely with a MACS faculty mentor on projects related to teaching, research, or community service.  This commitment normally involves roughly ten hours of engagement per week during the spring and fall semesters.
