Leadership at the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

ASU's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is led by a diverse team of renowned faculty and talented staff who endeavor to help students thrive at ASU and beyond. New College prepares students to become master learners, prepared to engage, adapt, and develop solutions to the complex challenges facing the world today and tomorrow. Our graduates are agents of change and difference makers here in the West Valley community and far beyond.   New College's interdisciplinary design dissolves disciplinary lines between our three schools, and our students are empowered to create solutions to problems that exist at the intersection of multiple academic disciplines.

Todd Sandrin
Dean and Vice Provost

Todd Sandrin serves as vice provost of ASU's West campus, dean of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, and professor in the School of Mathematical and Natural Science focusing on microbial biosignatures.

Lara Ferry
Associate Dean of Research and Strategic Initiatives

Ferry's research focuses on the evolution of jaws and their function in the aquatic realm, as well as performance of biomaterials.

 ASU Patricia Friedrich, Associate Dean 

Patricia Freidrich
Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Faculty Affairs 

Friedrich's research areas include world Englishes, sociolinguistics, disability studies, peace and diplomacy. Her teaching includes the courses History of English, Sociolinguistics and Forensic Linguistics. 

 Dr. Louis Mendoza

Louis Mendoza
Director, School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies

Mendoza is professor of Latina/o literary and cultural studies. His scholarship focuses on Latina/o cultural history, immigration and social justice.

Duku Anokye 

Duku Anoyke
Associate Director, School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies

Anokye is a sociolinguist with research on African Diaspora orality and literacy, folklore, discourse analysis and oral history specializing in Ghanaian culture, religion, storytelling, dance and social justice.

ASU Vernon Morris, SMNS School Director

Vernon Morris
Director, School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences

Dr. Morris is Director of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Dr. Morris’ research focuses on the chemical evolution of atmospheric particulate during transport and residence times in the lower troposphere and the implications to aerobiology, climate, and cloud processes.

James Sulikowski
Associate Director, School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences

Sulikowski's interests in aquatic environments along with his diverse background, which includes techniques in endocrinology and fisheries biology, continues to provide his students various research opportunities.

 ASU Scott Barclay

Scott Barclay
Director, School of Social & Behavioral Sciences

Barclay's research project explores the interplay of political, demographic, and social movement factors that influence the deployment of law. He has a doctorate in political science from Northwestern University.

 ASU Nicole Roberts, Assistant Director, SBS

Nicole Roberts
Associate Director, School of Social & Behavioral Sciences

Roberts studies emotion and emotion regulation using cultural and biological (psychophysiological) approaches. She studies clinical and neurological populations, couples, stress and sleep.

Catherine Kerrey
Executive Director, Academic and Student Affairs

Cathy Kerrey serves as Executive Director of Academic and Student Affairs for New College, reporting to the Dean and Vice Provost. She joined ASU in 2004.

Richard Holland
Director of Marketing and Communication

Richard Holland is responsible for the messaging and promotion of the Arizona State University's largest college on its West campus, The New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
