Read the following scholarship opportunities and apply for each individual scholarship as directed.

Lieutenant Colonel Paul A. Smiley Veterans Scholarship

  • Must be a full time undergraduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Preference will be given to a military veteran
  • Must be enrolled at least a three-fourths of full-time enrollment
  • Financial need is a factor

Linda Smiley Perseverance Award

Must be a Junior or a Senior or a graduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be enrolled at least a three-fourths of full-time enrollment
  • Preference will be given to a single mother

Brandie C Curtis Memorial Scholarship

To be considered for this scholarship, please submit a separate application form (Brandie C Curtis  Scholarship Application form)  to PO Box 37100 MC 1251 Phoenix AZ 85069-4908 or fax to 602-543-4565.

  • The donor’s preference is to provide support for Apollo High School (Glendale, AZ) graduates enrolled in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences or the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU’s West campus who meet at least one of the following criteria: 1) served in Operation Enduring Freedom, 2) is currently enrolled in ROTC, 3) are active military, or 4) have participated in sports activities.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2021

ASU Sandrin Environmental Scholarship

  • Must be an ASU undergraduate student with environmental science, sustainability, environmental engineering and environmental law majors
  • Must meet a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
  • Must be enrolled full time
  • With high financial need

A2M Aviation Solutions Scholarship

  • Must be a undergraduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences
  • Must be an Arizona resident
  • No minimum GPA requirement
  • Must be enrolled at any enrollment status
  • Financial need is NOT a factor
  • Preference will be given to a disabled veteran (preferably air force)
  • Must write a 2 one page, double-spaced essay on “Why I need the scholarship” (email your essay to nc_scholarships@asu.edu)

Arizona Public Service (APS) Scholarship

Deadline is March 31, 2021 midnight. Apply for this scholarship through the ASU Scholarship search, Arizona Public Service Scholarship Application - ASU New College  . Only students who are selected to receive a scholarship will be notified by mail to the address on file with ASU.

  • Five annual APS Scholarships to students enrolled at Arizona State University West
  • Students should be pursuing a baccalaureate degree at ASU West in math, science, technology, applied computing or finance.
  • Financial need is a factor
  • Approximate amount of each APS Scholarship per year is $2,000
  • Award half of annual amount each semester
  • Minimum GPA required is 3.0

Bernard Osher Reentry Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any NON-TRADITIONAL ASU STUDENTS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED A GAP IN THEIR EDUCATION OF MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. The 5-year gap does not need to be a single period of absence. However, the sum of the absent periods should be five years or more. Although no particular age range is required, the scholarship is intended to support student who will enter the work force of an extended period, typically at least 15 years after completing their education In the past; Osher Reentry Scholarship recipients have typically ranged in age from the mid-20s to the mid-50s.Refer to the criteria listed below. This scholarship has a rolling deadline, but priority will be given to those submitted before March 31, 2021.

Apply for this scholarship through the ASU Scholarship portal, Bernard Osh Reentry Scholarship. Only students who are selected to receive a scholarship will be notified by mail to the address on file with ASU.

  • Must be enrolled part-time or full-time in any program at Arizona State University.

  • Must be pursuing their first baccalaureate degree.

  • Must be an adult reentry student.

  • MUST SHOW EVIDENCE OF HAVING HAD THEIR UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PURSUIT AT 2 OR 4 YEAR INSTITUTION INTERRUPTED FOR A GAP OF 5 YEARS OR MORE. The 5-year gap need not be a single period of absence. However, the sum of the absent periods should be five years or more. Upload this evidence as additional documentation and add a description listing the dates of five year or more break in your formal education.

  • Although no particular age range is required, the scholarship is intended to support student who will enter the work force of an extended period, typically at least 15 years after completing their education in the past; Osher Reentry Scholarship recipients have typically ranged in age from the mid-20s to the mid-50s.

  • Must show evidence of financial need not necessarily determined by FAFSA

  • Must be in good academic standing.

  • Must be an Arizona resident.

  • Must write 300-word essay on how this scholarship would advance your educational and career goals.

  • If selected, awarded Bernard Osher Reentry scholars must be willing to participate in one focus group meeting in which they will be asked about their experiences as a reentry student at ASU and how the scholarship program could be improved.

  • Deadline: March 31, 2021

SRP Life Sciences Scholarship

  • Must be registered for at least 12 credit hours at ASU West
  • Must be enrolled in 3 credit hours of Independent Study (LSC 499)
  • Applications limited to 5 pages, single-spaced 12 pt. Type, including literature citations
  • Letter of support from sponsoring faculty is required

TRAIN - STEM Scholarship

 Minimum Eligibility:

  • Seeking a degree in applied math or computing, statistics, biology, forensic or environmental sciences, and/or pharmacology/toxicology
  • Full-time student who transferred from GCC, PC or SMCC
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Financial need based on FAFSA application
  • Willingness to participate in program cohort and mentoring activities
  • Willingness to participate in surveys and interviews with program researchers

Preferred Applicant Characteristics:

  • Strong background in 100 & 200-level college math and science
  • Interest in gaining research experience in one of the degree programs included in the TRAIN program
  • Student has at least one year left at ASU to complete their degree

 Program Deadlines for Academic Year 2021-2022:

  • Application deadline for students: March 31, 2021
  • A student may receive up to 4 semesters of support at ASU from the TRAIN program, and they must reapply each semester if they wish to continue their support.
