In an effort to keep our community safe, our team has decided to shift TEDxASUWest 2020: Community Transformed to a virtual format. We are always looking for innovative ways to share ideas worth spreading, and we are excited to be able to bring our event to you–wherever you may be! This year's event will be live-streamed via YouTube. Be sure to register to recieve the link and program (links will be delivered via email thirty minutes before the event).
“Communities” are often presented as divisive groupings that pit one set of interests against another. In a time when individuals self-report increasing loneliness and anxiety, community can provide companionship and support. Our event seeks to focus on that transformational power and what communities can achieve. Our speakers, ranging from researchers, to students, to performers, will explore their own discoveries and the value of shared experiences. We hope audience members will examine their own understanding of community, recognize the transformative nature of connections, and proactively seek out methods of engagement.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxASUWest, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxASUWest event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
The TEDxASUWest team has sifted, sorted and studied and through our 2020 applications and auditions, and after much deliberation, we are proud to announce that we have 14 speakers selected for TEDxASUWest 2020: Community Transformed!
