The American studies minor offered by the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies gives students the opportunity to pursue an interest in the interdisciplinary study of American culture. This interdisciplinary minor is particularly appropriate for students majoring in one of the humanities or social sciences disciplines.

Financial Aid
ASU has many financial aid options. Almost everyone, regardless of income, can qualify for some form of financial aid. In fact, more than 70 percent of all ASU students receive some form of financial assistance every year.

Program Requirements

The minor in American studies consists of 18 credit hours. A minimum of 12 credit hours must be completed through courses offered by the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies. Credit hours may not be shared between major and minor requirements. All courses used to satisfy requirements for the minor must be passed with a "C" (2.00) or better.
Core Requirements -- 6 credit hours
Electives -- 12 credit hours
Depending on a student's undergraduate program of study, prerequisite courses may be needed in order to complete the requirements of this minor.
