NEW COLLEGE

WOMEN'S STUDIES

The Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Women's Studies, within the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, is an interdisciplinary program emphasizing intersectional approaches to the study of gender, race, class, ethnicity and sexuality in national and transnational contexts. Consistent with the university's design imperatives of social embeddedness and use-inspired research, Women's Studies, through its course offerings, research initiatives and co-curricular programs in the Women's Resource Center, seeks to further the understanding of women and gender, and to promote social justice. The BS degree is distinguished by its quantitative emphasis.
