Applications to the MA in Interdisciplinary Studies program are accepted year-round. Students may be granted admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Below are the recommended application deadlines.
Fall – July 1 | Spring – Nov 1 | Summer – April 1
As an MAIS student you have the option of registering for part-time or full-time study. Most part-time students take two years to finish the coursework and another semester or summer to complete the capstone. You can finish the program in less time, but if you are working full-time, we do not recommend that you take more than 9 hours per semester.

Letter of Recommendation (PDF Format): We strongly encourage applicants to utilize the electronic letter of recommendation tool; however, if you choose not to please download this form and have recommenders send it along with the letter.
All components of the admissions application are considered holistically. Regular admission may be granted to applicants who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or better in the last two years of work leading to a bachelor’s degree. The GRE is not required; however, test scores can help provide the admissions committee with additional information. International students who are from a country whose native language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency as indicated by acceptable scores on the TOEFL or IELTS. See additional requirements for international students.
