Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS)
The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) is designed for post-baccalaureate students seeking job advancement or redirection, personal development and intellectual growth, or preparation for further graduate study.
The MAIS is an innovative program that supports advanced inquiry in the following broad areas:
- visual and media cultures
- transnational approaches to the analysis of contemporary social and political issues
- studies in ethnicity
- gender studies
The flexible curriculum can serve a wide range of professional and personal goals. Students participate in a highly interactive, intellectually challenging environment reflective of the college’s commitment to innovative liberal studies programs. MAIS faculty members are drawn from across the college, ensuring students’ exposure to a breadth of knowledge and expertise that fosters a truly interdisciplinary academic experience.
The MAIS program is designed to accommodate the needs of students who must balance full work schedules and graduate study. Students can pursue the degree full or part-time, and all required courses are offered in the evening. The program is modeled after a large number of programs around the country, many of which are affiliated with the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs.
