AMERICAN STUDIES MINOR

Minor Requirements

The Minor in American Studies offers students the opportunity to pursue an interest in the interdisciplinary study of American Culture. This interdisciplinary minor is particularly appropriate for students majoring in one of the humanities or social sciences disciplines. The minor consists of 18 semester hours, 12 of which must be upper division hours.

Core Courses
The core courses consist of 18 semester hours:

AMS 301 Introduction to American Studies
AMS 310, 311 American Systems or
AMS 320, 321 American Cultures
AMS 330 Introduction to American Lives

 

Supported Courses
The core requirements consist of 6 semester hours:

Courses must be with substantial American content and must be approved by an American Studies faculty advisor.
