The Department of Integrated Natural Sciences offers a BS degree in Life Sciences that qualifies students for entry to post-baccalaureate programs in human or veterinary medicine or dentistry, to Masters and Doctoral programs in biology, as well as for employment with state and federal agencies, such as the Arizona Game & Fish Department or with private organizations, including biomedical laboratories or agricultural and environmental consultants. The Faculty includes 13 full-time faculty.
Hands-on experience in small groups, and even on a one-to-one basis with individual faculty members, is the cornerstone of the Life Sciences program. Students have the opportunity to work in faculty research laboratories working on the cutting edge of scientific endeavor.Ê Students who pursue independent study in the department are among the most successful at gaining entrance to graduate school, professional school, and careers. They publish in top journals and present their results at regional and national scientific meetings.
The department also seeks to teach biology, chemistry, geology, and physics in a way that highlights the linkages between these disciplines. Students that graduate from the program possess a deep knowledge of the biology, as well as the fundamental interrelationships between biology and other sciences.
